Wiseman Studio is a multifaceted and very active art studio, located in Frogtown. Working with bronze, ceramics and other diverse media, the studio creates intricate *site-specific* installations, furniture, luminaires and objects. The studio seeks to expand its team to incorporate a metal professional. Responsibilities: • Manage the metal workshop, the foundry, and the maintenance and repairs of the studio and gallery: schedule tasks and act as the main contact person for maintenance workers; keep a record of regularly scheduled maintenance of the facilities and tools; and provide technical and basic maintenance support. • Assist in the communication of the payroll and the scheduling of schedules of the metal workshop staff. • Basic management and installation of works of art. • General procedures and errands of the study. • Attend during the days of photo sessions, including assembly, disassembly, etc. • Organize the study space and maintain the systems and workstations. • Place orders and maintain inventory of materials and supplies. • Maintain material inventory systems. • Research and acquire parts and equipment. • Perform some foundry and/or metal fabrication work. Requirements: • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in a metal workshop or artistic studio environment is required. • It is required to be bilingual (English/Spanish), or to have the ability to understand and speak Spanish at a professional level. • Demonstrate effective, accurate and clear communication with contractors, colleagues and supervisors. • It is ideal to have experience in basic construction, general manufacturing and the use of related tools. • It is essential to have specific knowledge of welding and metal fabrication. Experience in casting and working with bronze is required. • Be an organized and detail-oriented person, with an interest in maintaining and creating work systems. • Must have the ability to collaborate effectively with other people. • You must be a self-motivated person, with the ability to learn quickly. • Have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to visit suppliers and distributors in the area (mileage expenses are reimbursed). • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities, being able to readjust priorities at short notice. • Positive attitude and good sense of humor. Full-time position with benefits. The salary will be $30-40/hr according to experience. 90-day trial period.
